The WOS AGM followed by Peter Cranswick “Born to be wild – saving the world’s rarest bird”

Peter, a committee member with WOS, has been at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust for almost 30 years, in recent times focusing on threatened species conservation. Eight years ago, when WWT was in the early stages of helping the Madagascar Pochard, arguably the world’s rarest bird, Peter talked to WOS about the beginning of the project to save this species. He is returning to bring the story up to date. Once thought extinct, just 20 Madagascar Pochards survive on one small lake in the remote highlands of Madagascar. Barely clinging to existence, nearly all the ducklings die each year. Peter will tell how a pioneering approach, some innovative thinking, and not a little determination is helping keep this duck’s head above water.

Marilyn Trew will be painting live at the AGM. The picture she paints will be a prize in the raffle. Marilyn's work and the groups she works with can be seen on her Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=marilyn%20trew%20-%20artist&epa=SEARCH_BOX

No entry fee and visitors very welcome.
