Youth Section
Welcome to the Youth Wiltshire Ornithological Society! We are keen to inspire and empower young people to connect with nature through birdwatching. Whether you're a seasoned birder wanting to see as many species as you can, or a complete beginner, we would love to have you along to join and get involved!
We are growing and would love to see as many young people involved as possible. We wish to grow to become one of the leading youth sections in the country, showing the enthusiasm that Wiltshire’s young birders have.

Why join with WOS?
- Explore the amazing wildlife of Wiltshire! Our county is home to a many amazing birds - Hen Harriers quartering over above Salisbury Plain to tiny goldcrests flitting through our woodlands, there are birds everywhere you look. With the WOS Youth Section, you'll have the chance to explore different habitats and discover the unique birdlife that calls Wiltshire home.
- Meet new, like-minded people. Birdwatching is a great way to meet other young people who share your interest in nature. Our friendly and welcoming group is the perfect place to make new friends and learn from each other.
- Have fun and learn. We believe that birding should be fun and engaging. Our activities and events are designed to be both educational and enjoyable, with a focus on hands-on exploration of nature.
- Be part of something bigger. WOS has been going since 1974 so has a long history of promoting birdwatching in Wiltshire. We have dedicated conservation work and fund numerous schemes throughout the county to protect our birds. By joining get involved with the amazing, dedicated work some do and become part of a community trying to make a difference. Once you are older (out of full time education), you can remain in WOS as an adult continuing to learn and make a difference.
