On Tuesday 9th February 2016 at 2 pm: Frank Mogford “Birds of the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica”
In 1976 WOS member, Frank Mogford was the still photographer and ichthyologist in a Joint Service Expedition to the Elephant Island Group, a part of the South Shetland Islands. The results from his survey work were sent to the Natural History Museum. Frank’s illustrated talk will cover a little about the journey down through South America, through the Falkland Islands and on to the South Shetland Islands. Frank will describe the bird life on the islands and the inter-relationship with them and the environment. He will cover the seals encountered and mention the fauna and some of the marine sciences covered.
