Barbury Castle TRIP CANCELLED
TRIP CANCELLED.
Cancellation of trip to Barbury Castle. The Society has a planned field trip to Barbury Castle this coming Sunday morning 24 November. Currently the weather forecast is for rain all day Saturday and all day Sunday (Storm Bert) with wind speeds of over 40mph on Sunday morning. This is a very exposed site and in view of these forecast conditions it has been decided, with great reluctance, to cancel this meeting. This meeting will be rescheduled for sometime in the future.
Sunday 24 November 2024; 10.00am, Barbury Castle
Barbury Castle is located on the ancient Ridgeway route on the northern edge of the Marlborough Downs, within the North Wessex AONB. In November we should see flocking Linnets, Yellowhammers and Corn Buntings. Together with small rodents, these provide food for birds of prey which we may see, including: Merlin, Hen Harrier, Short-eared Owl. There are toilets here.
Leader: Granville Pictor
Details of the meeting place and the mobile number of the leader will be in the monthly email which is posted either at the end of month preceding the walk or at the beginning of the month in which the walk is to take place, and is also on the Programme which has been sent with the summer WOS News.
