SOUTHERN OCEANS TRIP OF A LIFETIME

28th  April at 7.30pm, Ted Smith

'I'm Ted Smith, newly-appointed Treasurer for the Wiltshire Ornithological Society. I have been birding now for fifty years all over the world and I'm very happy to be closely involved with WOS as I've been living in Froxfield, Wiltshire for the last twenty years. My local patches include the Savernake Forest, Hens Wood, the Marlborough Downs and the Kennet and Avon Canal. I have a particular interest in wildlife photography of all kinds and have seen my work used by both local and national press and the BBC - as well as winning the odd competition or two.

In December 2019 Sally and I achieved our ambition and visited the Southern Oceans to view the extraordinary wildlife. My trip started in Ushuaia at the Southern tip of South America and took in the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, Elephant Island and the Antarctic Peninsula itself. It was the trip of a lifetime and I would go back in a heartbeat. I'm looking forward to sharing some of my experiences and photographs with WOS members.'
