Sunday 3 October 2021; 9.30am, Chittoe Heath and Beacon Hill, Nr Devizes.

An early autumn visit to two differing habitats. Chittoe Heath is one of the very few areas of remaining heathland in Wiltshire. It is small but well worth a visit. Following the visit to Chittoe Heath, we will drive a short distance to reach Beacon Hill and Oliver’s Castle via Roundway village. From here we will enjoy a walk over rolling chalk downland which, if the weather is fine, provides beautiful views over the surrounding countryside. A wide variety of woodland and downland species may be expected during the day. Please note that there are some reasonable slopes to climb at Beacon Hill. The meeting is likely to last into the early afternoon so lunch should be brought.

The leader will be Bruce Maxfield, details of his mobile number and the exact location for meeting is on the programme information sheet which was sent to members with the Summer edition of WOS News. Details will also be given on the forthcoming events email which is sent at the beginning of the month in which an event is held.

Information relating to WOS field meetings in general is given on the Programme.
