Sunday 25 June 2023; 9.30am, RSPB Winterbourne Down reserve, Nr Newton Toney

A return visit to this 730 acre reserve east of Amesbury.  Our leader will be one of the reserve wardens who, in addition to showing us around, will be able to explain many of the management techniques employed on the reserve. This is a reserve for farmland birds so we may expect to see birds like Yellow Bunting, Skylark and hopefully Stone Curlew. At this time of the year there should also be plenty to see on the flower and butterfly front.

Numbers will be limited to 20 members, so those wishing to attend should book a place via Phillip Tryner (07483 855253 or email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) after 1 April 2023.

There will be a charge of £3 for RSPB members and £5 for non RSPB members. Morning meeting only.

Members will have received the mobile number of the leader and details of the meeting place in the Field Trips leaflet which went out with the Winter edition of WOS News. These details will also be given in the monthly email which is sent to those members who have signed up to receive emails at the beginning of the month in which the trip will be held.

The attention of members is drawn to the fact that WOS accepts no liability for damages or personal injury occurring during its activities. Please note that dogs should not be brought to meetings.

WOS seeks to encourage car sharing, so members may wish to liaise prior to meetings to try and reduce car usage.

Field trips and indoor meetings are rarely cancelled based on weather forecasts of inclement conditions as they can be wrong. However, in the event of cancellation, a notice will be posted on the website under Newsflash.  Members may also check by telephoning the leader, see above.
