Tuesday 10th December 2019 at 7.30 pm: Matt Prior “Bangladesh: The Challenges and Rewards of Bird Research and Conservation in a Developing Country” and the Annual Photographic Competition at Devizes Quaker Meeting House, Kennet View, Sussex Wharf, The Nursery, Devizes SN10 2AE

Matt is the Chair of Wiltshire Ornithological Society. As well as his conservation work within Wiltshire, Matt is a ringer who also goes abroad to support conservationists in countries developing their ornithological skills. He has been to Bangladesh three times working with local conservationists from the Bangladesh Bird Club and the IUCN studying their birds and training the local people in bird ringing. Matt and his colleagues have shared some fantastic times and have made some exciting discoveries.

It is also the occasion of the WOS photo competition for members of the Society.

Please bring your photos (A4 size or 10 x 8”) along on the evening [preferably 20 minutes prior to the beginning of the meeting to enable the display to be set up].

You can enter up to 3 photos, one for each of the categories: Best Wiltshire Bird; Best UK Bird [excluding Wiltshire]; Best Other UK Wildlife/Natural History.

All photos must be taken this year and be of wild subjects (no captive animals, birds in sanctuaries, pets, etc).

A prize will be awarded to the best in each category as chosen by the members present on the evening.  As we all have different opinions, anyone can win, so why not have a go!

Admission £2.00 to include refreshments
