A Bumper WOS Weekend in West Sussex!
Members wishing to come for the whole weekend will need to make their own arrangements re meals, accommodation, etc.
Please note the different start times.
Day 1 - Saturday 26th April 10.00 am Pulborough Brooks RSPB Reserve, West Sussex
A new venue for WOS! With beautiful views across to the South Downs, this reserve is set in one of the richest areas for nature in the country. The reserve consists of woodland, heathland, grassland, ditches and pools, which has a super collection of breeding birds. Waders, Warblers and Redstarts all frequent the site. However, breeding nightingale is the star attraction and hopefully we will encounter this elusive species. Adders are also a feature of Pulborough. The visit consists of a walk of approximately 2 miles, along a mix of paths, trails and grass, with some moderate gradients. There are 4 hides and 6 viewpoints. There are toilets and a cafe on site. All day meeting, so please bring lunch. Walking boots are advisable.
In addition, if Nightjars have arrived (it is a little early) and the weather is favourable, there will be a second visit to Pulborough Brooks that evening to seek out Nightjars. Arrangements to be confirmed on the day.
Details of the meeting place and the mobile number of the leader will be in the monthly email which is posted either at the end of month preceding the walk or at the beginning of the month in which the walk is to take place and is also on the Programme which has been sent with WOS News.
